Keynote Speakers

Kris Hagerman

Chief Executive Officer - Sophos

Kris Hagerman joined Sophos in 2012 as CEO. He is responsible for all aspects of Sophos’ strategic direction and business operations.

Prior to Sophos, Kris was CEO of Corel Corporation. Previously, Kris served as group president, data center management at Symantec, where he led a business of more than $1.5 billion that represented nearly 30 percent of Symantec’s global revenue.

Prior to Symantec, Kris was executive vice president and GM, storage and server management at Veritas Software where during his tenure, the company grew from $1.0 billion in revenue to more than $2.0 billion, prior to its acquisition by Symantec. Earlier in his career, Kris was founder and CEO of BigBook, an online yellow pages service and founder and CEO of Affinia, an online contextual advertising network. Kris also held positions at Silicon Graphics and McKinsey & Company.

Kris has a bachelor’s degree in Russian and Economics from Dartmouth College, an Masters in Philosophy in international relations from Cambridge University, and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Dan Schiappa

Senior Vice President and General Manager, Products

Dan Schiappa is Senior Vice President and General Manager of Products at Sophos. In this role, Dan is responsible for the overall strategy, product management, architecture, research and development and product quality for the network security, enduser security and Sophos Central groups, and drives next-gen innovation into the entire portfolio.

Prior to joining Sophos, Dan served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Identity and Data Protection Group at RSA, The Security Division of EMC. At RSA, Dan managed a business unit with responsibility for Authentication, Identity Management, Anti-Fraud, Encryption and Data Center Operations. Previously, he held several GM positions at Microsoft Corporation, including Windows security, Microsoft Passport/Live ID, and Mobile Services. Dan was the key business leader for Microsoft’s BitLocker and Rights Management services.

Prior to Microsoft, Dan was the CEO of Vingage Corporation, a video server provider acquired by L3 Mobilevision, and was an executive at PictureVision, an online digital imaging company acquired by Kodak. Dan also held senior technical roles at Informix Software and Oracle Corporation.

Dan is the Chairman of the Board of Advisors to the Dean of Engineering at his alma mater, the University of Central Florida.

Mike Valentine

Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales

Mike Valentine joined Sophos in 2013 as Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales. He is responsible for the company’s global sales and channel organization. With more than twenty years of senior sales and channel experience at global IT security companies, Mike most recently served as Vice President, Americas Sales and Support at Fortinet. In this role, he oversaw all facets of the company’s network security offerings—VPN, UTM, web filter, security software—and business development across North America, Latin America and Australia/New Zealand, helping to increase corporate revenues by nearly 40 percent.

He guided Fortinet’s multi-national sales team through the company’s successful IPO and played a major role in the integration of two acquired companies’ sales teams. During his tenure, he also expanded the company’s network of North America technology distributors, signed more than 700 new Americas partners and grew the internal channel team by more than 80 percent, ultimately helping the company grow from $200 million to over $500 million in worldwide annual revenue.

He is a recognized and respected sales executive who in 2008 and 2009 was named a top "Channel Chief" by CRN magazine. Prior to joining Fortinet, Mike held Vice President of Americas Sales positions at both SonicWALL and WatchGuard Technologies, as well as Senior Sales positions at Panasonic.

Mike has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of Texas - Arlington.

Kendra Krause

Sophos Vice President of Global Channel Sales

Kendra Krause, Sophos Vice President of Global Channel Sales, has over 18 years of channel sales, marketing, and operations experience in the networking and security industry. Kendra joined Sophos in 2013 to lead channel development and sales in the Americas. During this time, she structured a new channel sales model, created and launched a new partner program, deal registration program, and incumbent program. In her global role, she is focused on helping Sophos maintain their status as a market leader in the security industry, and ensuring that partners across the globe have the programs and support they need to make succeeding with Sophos simple.

Prior to Sophos, Kendra spent six years at Fortinet as the Vice President of Channel Sales and was instrumental in the company’s channel sales growth, program development, and overall direction. Kendra’s extensive channel sales experience also stems from her roles at security vendors, SonicWALL and WatchGuard. Previous to working for manufacturers, she held various sales and product marketing roles for a computer and networking reseller. Kendra’s success at these companies has provided her the foundation she needs to run a successful channel sales organization at a leading network security company.

Matt Fairbanks

Chief Marketing Officer

Matt Fairbanks joined Sophos in 2012 as chief marketing officer (CMO). He is responsible for the company’s global marketing strategy, market development, and go-to-market activities. Prior to Sophos, he served as senior vice president of marketing at McAfee, leading go-to-market activities for the company’s business security products and solutions.

Previously, he served as vice president of product marketing at Citrix, with responsibility for their Xen virtualization and application delivery product lines. He also held senior marketing and product management roles at Symantec, Veritas, and Seagate. At Symantec, he defined go-to-market strategies for a $2.0 billion software product family and led product and campaign marketing for the entire “Veritas” software portfolio. At Veritas, he served as senior director of product marketing, where he defined and executed product marketing initiatives for a $1.0 billion software product family.

Matt has a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Brigham Young University and an MBA from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University.
